The Learning Suite Board
The Learning Suite Board endeavors to represent the best interests of the children serviced by the organization. The Board of Directors ensures the organization is on track with regard to meeting its goals, as well as crafts policies in support of those goals. The Learning Suite Board is comprised of members with a variety of planning expertise who bring their know-how to the table in order to move the organization forward in its quest to provide high-quality customized educational programs for ALL children ages 0 – 12 that not only increase cognitive abilities, but are also engaging and fun!
NWANDI LAWSON - CHAIR
Ms. Lawson received a degree in Broadcast Journalism, magna cum laude, from Howard University. Upon graduating, Ms. Lawson spent a year teaching eighth-grade literature, U.S. History and language arts in East Palo Alto, California before she began her career in production. Currently, Ms. Lawson produces and hosts a variety of radio and television programs through her independent production company, Rêve Productions. Business and Professional Women named Ms. Lawson 2008 Georgia Woman of Achievement. After years of successfully operating her production company, in May 2013 Ms. Lawson received an MBA from Emory University’s Goizueta Business School. As a mother of two young daughters, Ms. Lawson is sincerely dedicated to education as a means of empowerment. She serves as Chair of The Learning Suite’s Board in an effort to bring empowering opportunities to young children and their families.
DR. JUNE L. GLENN-LAWSON, MD
Dr. Glenn-Lawson is a Family Practice physician, specializing in the management and care of diabetes. She graduated from Lewis and Clark College with a B.S. in Biology and the University of Oklahoma School of Medicine. Prior to becoming a physician, Dr. Glenn-Lawson taught high school science and conducted bio-medical research for NASA. Dr. Glenn-Lawson has spent many years volunteering with community-based initiatives, including the Teenage Parent Program, South Bay Sickle Cell, and the African-American Outreach Committee of the American Diabetes Association. Dr. Glenn-Lawson believes that a productive nation depends upon individuals developing a sense of overall health and wellness from birth. She is able to promote this belief through her work with The Learning Suite’s Board.
DONALD LAWSON, ESQ. - TREASURER
Mr. Lawson received a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Portland. He also holds an M.A. in Library Science and second in Educational Technology. After obtaining his license to practice law, Mr. Lawson worked with the Stanford University Law Program to serve the needs of low-income residents in the community of East Palo Alto, California in addition to running his own private practice in the same community. Mr. Lawson recently retired from his position as Staff Attorney with the Teamsters Local 856. Mr. Lawson is proud of the achievements of his own children and serves on The Learning Suite’s Board in an effort to help all families provide their children with life experiences that will lead them toward future success.
QUEENIE YU - TRUSTEE
Ms. Yu is a graduate of the State University of New York at Albany. She holds a B.S., cum laude, in Business Administration. Ms. Yu is currently a stay-at-home mom caring for two children, ages 6 and 4, with the priority of providing a loving environment conducive to learning, development and exploration of new skills and interests. Ms. Yu has previous corporate experience as a professional with over 7 years in management consulting for Fortune 500 clients with consistent accomplishments in enhancing organizational performance, efficiency and profitability. Ms. Yu has a proven ability to successfully plan and manage projects, to maintain within budget and timelines, identify, track and resolve risks and issues, and manage teams including client personnel. Ms. Yu serves as a Board Member because she values the development of young children and understands the importance of stimulating the mind at an early age.
KAI HARRISON - TRUSTEE
Mr. Harrison is a Certified Public Accountant in the State of New York and holds an MBA in Finance and Global Business from New York University and a B.S. in Accounting from the State University of New York at Albany. Mr. Harrison is currently a Vice President at Credit Suisse. Mr. Harrison has also worked as an auditor at Arthur Andersen and at Deloitte & Touche. Mr. Harrison serves as a member of The Learning Suite’s Board of Directors because of the well-rounded learning experiences provided to children through its programs.
